Dolphin pool robots: which Maytronics model to buy, and what goes wrong

Updated

Our verdict

Dolphin is the safe, long-lived brand, but read the warranty line before you buy. The Nautilus models Maytronics sells on its own store, including the $829 CC Plus, list a 1-year warranty, while the dealer models such as the Dolphin EON 120d ($1,449) and M550 ($2,049) list 3 years, seen Oct 29, 2026. Buy the CC Plus if you want a proven corded robot on a budget; pay more for a 3-year model if you want Dolphin coverage that matches Beatbot.

Short answer: Dolphin, made by Maytronics, is the brand pool owners trust to last, but most of its store models carry only a 1-year warranty. Buy the Nautilus CC Plus at $829 if you want a proven corded robot. If you want three years of coverage, buy a dealer model such as the Dolphin EON 120d at $1,449 or the M550 at $2,049. Prices are from maytronics.com, seen Oct 29, 2026.

Which Dolphin pool robot should I buy?

The Nautilus CC Plus for most budgets. It is corded, so it never stops to charge on a heavy leaf day, and owners report years of service. If coverage matters more than price, the 3-year models are the dealer EON 120d (cordless) and the M550 (corded). The cordless EON line launched in January 2026, so it doesn't have the CC Plus owner track record yet.

What does the Dolphin warranty cover?

Maytronics' own warranty FAQ says: "The warranty length for Dolphin robots varies depending on the model, typically ranging between 12 to 36 months. To verify the exact warranty period for your specific robot model, please visit the product page of your Dolphin robot."

We did that for every residential model above. The pattern is clear: Nautilus-branded models list 1 year, and the dealer-line Dolphin models list 2 or 3 years. The EON pair shows it best. The Nautilus EON 120d is $1,199 with 1 year, and the Dolphin EON 120d is $1,449 with 3 years. Maytronics' January 2026 launch release for the EON line promised a "3-year warranty" (company claim); on the store, only the dealer EON 120d lists it.

What problems do Dolphin owners report?

Owner reports for the CC Plus point to the power supply and to clogged filters:

  • Power supply trouble before failure. A CC Plus owner whose robot stopped at 4 years said "the power supply was always odd" and had to rest before a second cycle, and that a rear filter cage he hadn't known about was packed with dirt (r/pools).
  • Long life is the praise. An owner whose previous Dolphin "died after 7 years" tried a cordless robot, had it fail in 8 months, and went back to a corded CC Plus (r/swimmingpools).

Maytronics publishes fixes for a Dolphin that won't climb walls and for a power supply that works while the robot does not. See our pool robot troubleshooting guide for more.

Is a Dolphin good for a Florida pool?

A corded Dolphin is the strongest choice for an open Florida pool under oaks or palms. It runs as long as the power supply stays on, so a post-storm cleanup or a heavy pollen week doesn't hit a battery limit. You need a GFCI outlet near the pool and a dry spot for the power supply. For a screened lanai pool with light debris, a cordless robot is easier to live with. Weigh either against weekly service with our robot vs pool service calculator.

Can I buy Dolphin robots in the US?

Yes. Maytronics sells direct on maytronics.com and through dealers; each product page links to Find a Dealer.

US availability side note: models the FCC authorized before its July 2026 robot rule can still be sold here. Read the FCC robot rule explained or use the US availability check.

Is Dolphin a good pool robot brand?

Our verdict: yes, for durability; no, if you buy a 1-year Nautilus model expecting Beatbot-level coverage. Buy the CC Plus for value and a long owner track record. Buy a 3-year dealer model if a long warranty is the point. See how long pool robots last and our Dolphin Nautilus CC Plus review.

Compare it with other brands in the pool robot compare tool, match a model to your pool with the pool robot finder, or see our best robotic pool cleaners.

Frequently asked questions

How long is the Dolphin warranty?

Maytronics says it varies: "typically ranging between 12 to 36 months." On Oct 29, 2026 the Nautilus store models (CC, CC Plus, CC Pro, CC Supreme, Titan, AG, Nautilus EON 100 and 120d) listed 1 year; the Explorer E50 and dealer EON 100 listed 2 years; the dealer EON 120d, Liberty 400 and 600, M550 and Active 60 listed 3 years.

What is the difference between the Dolphin EON and the Nautilus EON?

On maytronics.com the Nautilus EON 120d is $1,199 with a 1-year warranty and the Dolphin EON 120d is $1,449 with a 3-year warranty. The Nautilus EON 100 is $899 with 1 year; the Dolphin EON 100 is $1,098 with 2 years. Compare the spec sheets before you buy.

Why does my Dolphin power supply work but the robot doesn't move?

Maytronics has a support FAQ for exactly this. One CC Plus owner found the power supply had acted up for a while and the rear filter was packed with dirt before the robot stopped at 4 years. Check the filters first, then the power supply and cable.

Is a corded Dolphin better than a cordless robot?

For daily heavy debris, often yes: a corded robot never stops to charge. One owner went back to a corded CC Plus after a cordless robot failed in 8 months. Cordless robots skip the cable and the outlet.

Where should I buy a Dolphin in the US?

From maytronics.com or a Maytronics dealer. Each product page has a Find a Dealer link. Check which version you are buying, since the warranty differs by model.
